Okay, well... sometimes there's nothing happening worth writing to you about and other times there's so much happening that I just don't have time to write about. Now is one of those times where I just don't have enough time to go into detail on everything I need to catch up on here. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

First of all, I found out that as of Jan. first, my paychecks will be coming from CSC (Computer Sciences Corportation) rather than my current employer, Providence Hospital. Which is to say that the I.S. dept. at the hospital will officially be outsourced. I think it's mostly a good thing. They're telling us we're guaranteed a job until at least July first of next year and then they're saying that we'll have so much work to do upgrading and what-not that we're not likely to lose our jobs even then. Personally, until paper jams start clearing themselves, I'm pretty optimistic about keeping my job. Maybe even getting a raise here and there as the hospital has been unable to do so.

Secondly, I live in Mobile, AL for anyone not in the know. This place is looking like ground zero for hurricane Ivan. I don't know what's going to happen. I've decided to weather the storm at my house even though nothing has been boarded up. Our house is a pretty substantial brick structure so I don't think there will be much to fear unless all our windows break, the roof comes off, or trees start falling on the house. Yeah, so I'm probably going to be sleeping in the bath tub tonight. Anyway, this hurricane is no joke. Of course, I could have stayed at the hospital, but that would mean my dad would be here by himself and I think he's convinced that the storm won't be bad and someone has to make sure the crazy old fart covers his ass when the time comes. Speaking of work, out of all of the operators, I live the closest to the hospital and so I'm the one who will be relieving those who are there during the storm. My standing orders are to get there as soon as I can after it's safe to go out. So yeah ... that's the plan.

I don't really have much else to say except I hope everyone I care about, including myself, make it through. I don't know when I'll be able to be back on here. If I can get on at work after the storm I will (they have generators) but as for my house, I am anticipating at least a couple of weeks without power. And without power, I'm gonna go crazy.

Fucking hurricane.
